The Rift Herald in League of Legends is getting a major upgrade in the upcoming preseason of 2024. This powerful objective will now offer more interactive gameplay, allowing players to have greater control over the game’s tempo.
In the current version of the game, the Rift Herald is often contested by teams in the early to mid game before Baron spawns. Once obtained, the Eye of the Herald grants the player empowered recall and the ability to summon the monster to push a lane.
However, in the new season, the Rift Herald will undergo significant changes. The first major change is the introduction of Voidgrubs, a new early game objective that will appear before the Rift Herald. Once the Voidgrubs are defeated and the Eye is obtained, players can summon the Rift Herald with added effects.
One exciting new feature is the ability for the player or an allied champion to right-click on the Rift Herald and jump onto it. This allows them to steer the Herald and command it to charge forward, damaging and knocking up any enemy champions in its path.
If the Rift Herald is charged into a turret while being controlled, it will deal even more damage compared to a regular charge. This gives players the opportunity to strategically use the Rift Herald to take down turrets more effectively.
However, once the Rift Herald collides with terrain or a turret, the champion riding it will be knocked out and return to the map in their original form. This mechanic adds an element of risk and reward to using the Rift Herald’s charging ability.
This new gameplay mechanic is reminiscent of Johnson’s ultimate ability in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, where he transforms into a car and his allies can hop in to enjoy the ride. The car deals damage, stuns enemy heroes, and creates a damaging zone upon collision with an enemy or obstacle.
Overall, the revamped Rift Herald in League of Legends preseason 2024 promises to provide players with more agency and strategic options to steer the tempo of the game. Get ready for an exciting and dynamic gameplay experience!
