North America’s Dota 2 roster, which exceeded expectations with a top eight finish at The International 2023, has disbanded following the conclusion of the tournament, the organization announced today.
The team, known as Nouns, did not provide a reason for the departure of its current roster. However, the organization remains optimistic about its future in Dota and has asked fans to stay tuned for their plans in 2024.
Nouns’ Dota 2 roster for TI12 consisted of Héctor “K1” Rodríguez, Nicolas “Gunnar” Lopez, David “Moo” Hull, Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos, Luke “Yamsun” Wang, and Filipe “Astini” Astini as the coach.
Nouns entered the Dota 2 scene in May 2022 by signing the 4Zoomers roster. They quickly established themselves as one of the top three teams in North America and made it to the Last Chance Qualifiers at TI11.
This year, the organization attended its first Dota 2 Major, the Bali Major, and emerged as the top team in the TI12 Regional Qualifier. They surprised many by defeating Tundra Esports, one of the favorites, and securing a spot in the upper bracket. Although they faced losses against Azure Ray and Gaimin Gladiators, they managed to secure a victory over NA rivals TSM, ultimately finishing in the top eight, the highest placement for any North American organization.
With the dissolution of the Dota Pro Circuit, the impact on intra-regional competition remains uncertain. Nevertheless, Nouns is hopeful about its future in Dota 2, and fans can look forward to more North American representation on the international stage.
