Choi “Zeus” Woo-je, the top laner for T1, is making a name for himself in the League of Legends scene. With his exceptional skills and strategic gameplay, Zeus has been instrumental in T1’s success.
Zeus’s journey in esports began when he and his family started watching esports matches on the Korean cable esports channel, OGN. They first got hooked on KartRider, a popular mobile game similar to Mario Kart, before transitioning to League of Legends.
Inspired by the professional matches he watched, Zeus and his brother started playing League of Legends. While his brother played casually, Zeus took it to the next level and turned it into a career.
In 2018, Zeus’s passion for LoL esports grew even stronger. He became a fan of top teams like SKT T1 Telecom and admired players like Park “Summit” Woo-tae, Kim “Khan” Dong-ha, and Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon. Zeus aspired to be among the best players in the same role.
His dedication paid off when he reached the number one spot on the Korean solo queue ladder in 2018. This achievement made him realize that becoming a professional player was within his reach.
When T1 Academy announced they were looking for new trainees, Zeus wasted no time and signed up. His talent caught the attention of T1, and in 2019, he joined their academy roster at just 16 years old. By the end of 2020, Zeus earned a promotion to T1’s renowned 10-man roster.
Since joining the main roster, Zeus has been a key player in T1’s victories, including winning LCK Spring 2022. He has also represented LCK at international tournaments like the 2022 and 2023 Mid-Season Invitational and LoL World Championship.
Outside of League of Legends, Zeus is a fan of European soccer. He particularly enjoys watching games featuring his favorite player, Son Heung Min from Tottenham Spurs. He has expanded his fandom to include other teams and players, often supporting the best of the best.
During his downtime, Zeus likes to play Hearthstone, a popular card game developed by Activision-Blizzard, with his brother. However, their gaming sessions are limited due to his brother’s military service obligations in Korea.
Zeus’s journey from a casual player to a professional top laner showcases his determination and skill. With his contributions to T1’s success and his passion for the game, Zeus is undoubtedly a rising star in the League of Legends scene.
