Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov finally gets his hands on Magnus and delivers a stylish victory. In the upper bracket final of The International 2023, Team Spirit’s offlaner showcased his feared Magnus, proving its worth even in an unfavorable meta.
The game against LGD Gaming was intense from start to finish, with both teams vying for a spot in the grand finals. Collapse’s Magnus was not the only signature hero on display, as Yatoro played Terroblade and NothingToSay brought out Tinker for the first time at TI12.
As expected, Collapse wreaked havoc with Magnus in the early and mid-game, consistently catching LGD’s heroes off-guard with Blink-Skewer maneuvers. However, it was in the later stages of the game that Collapse truly shined, utilizing an unconventional item choice to maximize Magnus’s potential.
In a surprising move, Collapse opted for a Seer Stone on Magnus. This allowed him to push the hero’s cast range to the limit, catching LGD off-guard and turning the tides of the game. The Seer Stone’s active ability proved invaluable, catching LGD off-guard when they attempted desperate smoke plays.
Despite LGD’s valiant efforts, with notable performances from planet’s Grimstroke and niu’s Centaur Warrunner, Team Spirit emerged victorious. They employed safe plays, utilizing X Marks the Spot to constantly send Yatoro’s Terrorblade into the fray. However, it was Collapse’s exceptional catches that ultimately sealed LGD’s fate.
While game one concluded in Team Spirit’s favor, the upper bracket final is far from over. LGD Gaming and Team Spirit continue to battle it out, and you can catch all the action live on Dota 2’s official Twitch and YouTube channels.
