Top streamer Dr Disrespect’s demand for a massive $50 million USD contract has caused negotiations with live-streaming platform Kick to come to a standstill. While Kick acknowledges his entertainment value and popularity, the hefty price tag is a major hurdle.
Kick’s head of product, Paulie Chianese, expressed admiration for Dr Disrespect and acknowledged that some staff members have been long-time fans. However, the platform is hesitant to commit to such a significant financial investment.
This isn’t the first time Kick has shown interest in signing Dr Disrespect. Co-founder Eddie Craven previously expressed his fandom and desire to work with the streamer. Talks were initiated, but it seems Kick is unwilling to meet the $50 million demand.
Dr Disrespect’s asking price may not be entirely unreasonable considering the lucrative contracts signed by other popular streamers on the platform, such as xQc, Adin Ross, and Amouranth. However, Kick may not believe he is worth that much.
Despite the stalled negotiations, Dr Disrespect appears unfazed. He values his time and is focused on his video game development studio. A contract could hinder his ability to dedicate time to this venture, which may be a factor in his decision-making process.
Dr Disrespect knows his own worth and is playing his cards accordingly.
