Faker Confirms He’s Not Retiring Anytime Soon

After securing his fourth League of Legends World Championship title at Worlds 2023, the legendary player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok has put to rest any speculation about his retirement plans. Despite marking a decade of professional play, Faker has confirmed that he will continue his work at T1 and has no intentions of retiring in the near future.

During the post-match press conference, Faker stated, “Since I am still contracted, I will probably end up continuing my work at T1. I’ll keep trying my best and I’ll think about retirement probably at a later time.” This means fans can expect to see him in action during the regular season of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) in Spring 2024.

Faker’s Contract and Career Highlights

According to the LoL Esports global contract database, Faker’s contract with T1 is set to run until November 17, 2025. This solidifies his commitment to the team and ensures his presence in the competitive scene for the foreseeable future.

Faker’s journey in the League of Legends began in 2013 when he joined SK Telecom T1 2 (later renamed T1) as a mid laner. His debut match against CJ Blaze in the OGN Olympus Champions Spring 2013 showcased his exceptional skills, with perfectly-timed spears and quick combos on Nidalee.

His breakthrough came during the Season 3 World Championship, where Faker played a pivotal role in leading SK Telecom T1 to victory. His outstanding performance, especially on champions like Gragas, cemented his status as one of the world’s best mid laners.

Since then, Faker has continued to dominate the competitive scene, earning numerous accolades and maintaining his legendary status.

Stay Tuned for Faker’s Future

As Faker embarks on the next chapter of his career, fans eagerly await his future performances. With his unwavering dedication and unmatched skills, Faker’s presence in the League of Legends community will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact.
