Malaysia’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang team, HomeBois, is determined to rewrite history by winning their first international tournament at the upcoming ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational 2023 (MPLI 2023). After their victory in MPL MY Season 12, HomeBois is ready to compete on the world stage and bring home the trophy for their country.
Before MPLI 2023 begins, let’s take a closer look at HomeBois. Led by veteran player Mohamad Zul Hisham “Xorn” Bin Mohd Noor, the team has a wealth of experience. Xorn has participated in every MPL season and various international competitions, including the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2019 and the Southeast Asian Games.
Xorn’s addition to the team this season had an immediate impact, especially in the roaming position. His exceptional performance earned him a spot in the Dream Team and the Playoffs Most Valuable Player title. However, HomeBois is not just about Xorn. The entire squad displayed unwavering spirit throughout the MPL MY Season 12 playoffs, proving themselves as a formidable force.
As underdogs, HomeBois pulled off impressive victories against former champion Team HAQ, top-seeded RSG Malaysia, and the emerging Selangor Red Giants. In the grand final against three-time finalist Team SMG, they showcased their resilience with a comeback win in game one and a miraculous base defense in game four. Despite SMG’s rally, HomeBois remained composed, executed their strategy flawlessly, and dominated the final game to secure their first MPL title in five seasons.
This resounding victory not only qualified HomeBois for MPLI but also for the M5 World Championship. Their roster for MPLI 2023 includes Xorn as the roamer, Muhammad Nazhan “Chibii” Bin Mohd Nor as the jungler, Muhammad Irfan “Sepat” Bin Aujang as the EXP laner, Rizky “Warlord” Agustian as the mid laner, Wahyu “Raizel” Saputra as the gold laner, and Muhammad Saiful “Saiful” Bin Aujang as the mid laner.
