New Baron Update in League of Legends Preseason 2024

Phyre Kimble

The Rift’s biggest monster, Baron, is finally getting a much-needed visual and gameplay revamp in preseason 2024. This update brings significant changes to Baron, transforming it from a single monster into three different forms that alter the surrounding terrain on the top side of the map. As a result, players will need to adopt new strategies when approaching Baron, which spawns at the 20-minute mark.

The three new forms of Baron are: Territorial Baron, Hunting Baron, and All-Seeing Baron. Each form can be easily identified by the variations in the pit design, and they also possess unique attacks that complement their respective forms.

It’s important to note that the Baron buff itself remains unchanged. When a team successfully kills any of the Baron variants, they will still receive the standard Hand of Baron buff, which grants bonus attack damage, bonus ability power, empowered recall, and an aura that empowers minions. The buff will last for the usual 180 seconds.

Territorial Baron creates a wall in front of the pit and utilizes its new hands to pull champions towards it. This form focuses on controlling the battlefield and disrupting enemy movements.

Hunting Baron, on the other hand, leaves the pit unchanged. In this form, Baron unleashes lightning strikes from above, dealing damage to nearby enemies. It emphasizes aggressive and offensive play.

All-Seeing Baron closes off the front of the pit and opens up both sides, creating a tunnel-like structure. Additionally, it opens a Void Rift that generates a damage over time zone within the tunnel pit. This form provides strategic opportunities for both offense and defense.

With these new Baron forms, players will need to adapt their late-game strategies when contesting the objective. The changes to the terrain and unique attacks add an extra layer of complexity to the game, requiring teams to approach Baron differently and make tactical decisions based on the form it takes.

In conclusion, the Baron update in League of Legends preseason 2024 introduces three distinct forms of Baron, each with its own visual design and gameplay mechanics. These changes will undoubtedly impact the late-game strategies of teams, adding more depth and excitement to the game.
