New World of Warcraft Warbands: Making Playing Alts Easier

Phyre Kimble

World of Warcraft is introducing a game-changing feature called Warbands in its upcoming expansion, The War Within. This exciting addition will bring joy to alt-o-holics, as it allows for greater interconnectivity between characters and simplifies the process of switching between them.

Blizzard announced this new feature during BlizzCon 2023, stating that Warbands are designed to enhance the gameplay experience across all characters in a player’s Battle.net account. Players will now have the option to display up to four characters on their character selection screen, creating a Warband-themed scene.

With Warbands, players can share various aspects of their progress and achievements, including reputations, collections, certain achievements, open world progress (such as Delves), select currencies, gear, access to the Warband Bank, and more. This sharing feature applies to all alts, regardless of their Faction.

Blizzard assures players that “most if not all” of the factions and reputations introduced in the 11.0 update will be Warband-wide. Additionally, a Warband bank will enable the transfer of select gear between characters within the Warband. This gear will be categorized as Warbound until equipped, and once equipped, it becomes soulbound to that specific character. Players will have the opportunity to earn high-level Warbound gear through various in-game activities.

The World of Warcraft team also plans to make older content Warband-wide. This means that many achievements that previously required completion on a single character will now be shared across the Warband. Flight points will also be included in this expansion of interconnectivity.

Transmogs, which allow players to change the appearance of their gear, will also be affected by Warbands. Once a transmog is learned by one character, it will be available to all characters within the Warband, regardless of their armor type. This means that if a Priest player obtains a plate chest piece from a raid, they can imprint that appearance in their collection, and it will be accessible to any plate-wearing character in the Warband. Additionally, bind-on-pickup items will now be automatically learned.

The introduction of World of Warcraft Warbands is sure to be welcomed by players who enjoy playing multiple characters. It streamlines the alt experience and offers greater convenience and flexibility. Players can look forward to exploring this new feature and enjoying its benefits in the near future.
