ONE Esports and MOONTON Games are set to host the fourth edition of the ONE Esports MPL Invitational (MPLI) in Jakarta, Indonesia from November 15 to 19, 2023. This year’s tournament will be a significant milestone as it goes offline and welcomes international teams from North America, the Middle East and North Africa, and China for the first time.
The event will kick off with the Group Stage on November 15-16, followed by the Playoffs and Grand Final on November 17-19. The matches will take place live at the GBK Basketball Hall in Jakarta, while fans can catch all the action online through ONE Esports’ channels on Facebook, TikTok, Twitch, X, and YouTube. Livestreamed content will be available in Bahasa Indonesia, English, and Tagalog.
A total of 16 teams from eight countries and regions will compete for a share of the $100,000 prize pool. The participating teams include Bigetron Alpha, Dewa United Esports, EVOS Legends, Geek Fam Rebellion, Zion, Rex Regum Qeon from Indonesia; AP, BREN, Blacklist International, ECHO, RSG from the Philippines; HomeBois from Malaysia; Team Flash from Singapore; See You Soon from Cambodia; TheOhioBrothers from North America; Team Falcons from the Middle East and North Africa; and Nova Esports from China.
An exciting new addition to MPLI 2023 is the fan voting system, which allows supporters to determine the top eight teams in the first pool of the Group Stage. The remaining eight teams will be assigned to the second pool, and matchups between teams from the first pool will be as follows: first seed vs eighth seed, second seed vs seventh seed, third seed vs sixth seed, and fourth seed vs fifth seed. The second pool teams will be randomly placed into Groups A to D, ensuring each group has four teams. The Group Stage will feature a round-robin best-of-one format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Playoffs.
The Playoffs will follow a double-elimination best-of-three format, with Group A facing Group D and Group B facing Group C. The Grand Final will be a thrilling best-of-five showdown.
