One Piece Day 2023 took place in July 2023 at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan. Fans had the incredible opportunity to witness the authentic One Piece live action costumes and props used in Netflix’s adaptation of the beloved anime and manga series created by Eiichiro Oda.
The event showcased the intricate details of the cast’s wardrobe, bringing fans closer to the magic of the live action series. Attendees were able to see the costumes up close and personal, providing a unique and immersive experience.
Authentic One Piece Live Action Costumes
Among the highlighted costumes was Luffy’s ensemble, which featured closed shoes instead of his traditional straw sandals. This costume was first revealed in the key visual for the series, worn by actor Inaki Godoy who portrays Luffy.
The exhibit also included two other Luffy costumes, one featuring a vibrant floral Hawaiian-print polo and another showcasing a simple “Anchor” t-shirt from Luffy’s childhood days.
Other costumes on display included those of Shanks, played by Peter Gadiot, and Captain Morgan, played by Langley Kirkwood. These costumes were meticulously crafted to capture the essence of the characters.
Props and Memorabilia
In addition to the costumes, the exhibit featured various props and memorabilia from the One Piece universe. Visitors could marvel at the Gomu Gomu no Mi Devil Fruit, the mystical fruit that granted Luffy his rubbery powers.
A map showcasing the Red Line and the Grand Line within the One Piece world was also on display, allowing fans to explore the vastness of this fictional universe. Furthermore, paper bills and coins of Berries, the currency used in the series, added to the immersive experience.
The One Piece Live Action Series
The highly anticipated One Piece live action series premiered on Netflix on August 31. Overseen by Eiichiro Oda himself, along with showrunner Steven Maeda and producer Matt Owens, the adaptation promises to introduce a whole new audience to the thrilling adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his diverse crew of pirates.
Starring Inaki Godoy as Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Mackenyu Arata as Zoro, the series brings to life the quest for the legendary treasure, the One Piece, sought after by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.
