RSG PH emerged victorious at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational 2023 (MPLI 2023) grand final, defeating ECHO with a score of 3-1. This historic win marks the first time a Filipino team has claimed the MPLI championship.
Before the tournament, RSG PH made a crucial change by replacing rising star jungler John “Irrad” Abarquez with their former jungler from RSG MY, Jonard “Demonkite” Caranto.
ECHO secured their spot in the grand final by defeating HomeBois and AP Bren in the upper bracket. Meanwhile, RSG PH fought their way through the lower bracket, eliminating See You Soon, HomeBois, and AP Bren to set up an intense showdown with the M4 world champions.
The first match saw RSG PH dominate, led by Demonkite’s impressive performance on Martis. He achieved a Maniac at the nine-minute mark and finished with a remarkable 7/1/11 KDA.
ECHO bounced back in the second game, taking a commanding lead with a 9-2 kill score and an 11,000 gold advantage. Bennyqt on Wanwan dealt the most damage for his team and secured a perfect 3/0/3 KDA, leading ECHO to a dominant victory.
The third game was a closely contested battle, with both teams utilizing their comfort picks. The match reached a turning point when RSG PH secured the Enhanced Lord at the 13-minute mark, resulting in a Lord dance. Nathzz on Yu Zhong managed to catch KarlTzy’s Guinevere, giving RSG PH the advantage. They secured the Lord and three more kills, putting them at match point.
In the final game, RSG PH displayed relentless dominance against ECHO. They quickly amassed a 16-2 kill score and a 12,000 gold advantage by the 10-minute mark. RSG PH sealed the series with one final push on ECHO’s exposed base.
Demonkite was named the grand final MVP for his outstanding performance as RSG PH’s jungler.
