SKT Bounces Back to Secure Spot in Finals

superadmin

In 2016, SK Telecom T1 (SKT) faced off against ROX Tigers in one of the most epic series in League of Legends (LoL) esports history. As defending champions, SKT was under immense pressure to secure their spot in the finals once again. The series showcased incredible gameplay and showcased the brilliance of SKT’s jungler, Bengi. Despite being down 1-2, SKT managed to turn the tide and secure a 3-2 victory.

The ROX Tigers entered the series as favorites, having dominated the LCK regular season and winning the Summer championship. With players like Smeb, PraY, Peanut, and GorillA, they had developed an aggressive playstyle and were bursting with energy. On the other hand, SKT had made roster changes, bringing in Duke as their top laner and transitioning Bengi to a more supportive role.

The Worlds 2016 meta was favorable for viewers, with a control mid meta and strong picks like Syndra, Viktor, Ryze, and Cassiopeia. ROX surprised everyone by picking Miss Fortune as a counter to Zyra in game two, showcasing their innovative strategies. PraY’s career highlight came when he landed a perfectly placed Enchanted Crystal Arrow to stop Duke’s Ekko from teleporting back to defend his base.

In a crucial game four, SKT subbed in bengi, who was known for his facilitator playstyle rather than carrying. Despite never playing Nidalee professionally before, bengi stepped up and played her in the deciding game. He utilized her clear timings to gain vision advantages and support his lanes, ultimately helping SKT even out the series at 2-2.

The final game was intense, with both teams fighting tooth and nail. SKT managed to secure the first Baron, but ROX attempted a 1v4 gank on Faker in the top lane. With incredible dodging and a clutch Shockwave, Faker escaped and turned the tides in SKT’s favor. SKT then sneakily secured the Baron and Elder Dragon buffs, leading them to victory and securing their spot in the finals.

This series between SKT and ROX Tigers will always be remembered as one of the greatest best-of-five matches in LoL history. The skill, strategy, and determination displayed by both teams captivated fans worldwide.
