Warzone 2.0: A New Battle Royale Experience

Introducing DMZ: A New Extraction-Style Mode

Warzone 2.0 brings a fresh battle royale map and a new game mode inspired by games like Escape from Tarkov. The new mode, called DMZ, allows players to complete faction-based missions, engage with enemy Operators and AI combatants, and search for valuable loot. The ultimate goal is to survive until exfiltration.

Factions, Contracts, and Looting Explained

In DMZ, there are five factions: Legion, White Lotus, Black Mous, Crown, and Phalanx. Each faction offers missions that players can complete at their own pace. The Legion is the first faction players can accept jobs from, followed by the White Lotus, Black Mous, Crown, and the newest addition, Phalanx.

Contracts and world activities are also available in DMZ. Contracts offer rewards such as cash and other items, and their objectives differ from those in the regular battle royale mode. World activities, on the other hand, are side objectives that provide additional rewards.

Assimilation and Proximity Chat

DMZ matches allow players to encounter other squads. While you can engage or avoid these squads, there is also an option to “assimilate” with other teams. Proximity chat can be used to form alliances and work together to complete faction missions. Friendly fire is disabled on temporary squadmates to prevent betrayal.

How Looting Works in DMZ

Looting in DMZ is more complex than in the regular battle royale mode. Players must manage their storage using a large Backpack, which can carry weapons, equipment, and other items. Loadouts consist of two weapons with maximum ammo, two equipment pieces, a field upgrade, killstreak, armor plates, and a gas mask. Any additional items picked up are automatically placed in the Backpack.

Items within containers, such as another Operator’s Backpack, must be individually selected to be placed in your own pack. Extracted items, including cash, weapons, and other items, are kept in Storage and can be accessed in the pre-match lobby.

However, there is a risk involved. In DMZ, players only have one life, and dying results in the loss of all non-permanent items in the Backpack. Squadmates can revive fallen players, but the risk of losing earned items is always present.

Insured Weapons

Players start with one insured weapon slot, but additional slots can be earned by leveling up with factions. Insured weapons are retained even if the player dies without extracting.
