Yes, MW2 Skins Will Transfer to MW3
The recently announced Modern Warfare 3 Carry Forward system covers the transfer of MW2 skins to MW3. This means that nearly everything from Modern Warfare 2, including operators, operator skins, weapons, and weapon skins, will be part of the Carry Forward initiative. However, there are a few exceptions and details to consider.
What Will Transfer?
Activision has confirmed that “weapons and cosmetic content” from MW2 will be transferred to MW3. This includes operators, operator skins, weapons, weapon skins, and more. However, there may be some content that won’t make the switch if it is not available in MW3. For example, if MW3 doesn’t have a specific vehicle or a certain piece of equipment, any skins unlocked for these items in MW2 won’t be available in MW3. Additionally, Wartracks (music) will not carry forward from MW2 to MW3.
Operators and Operator Skins
All unlocked operators and operator skins from MW2 will carry forward into MW3. This means that every operator a MW2 player has unlocked, obtained through challenges or purchased, will be available in MW3. However, MW2 Base Operators will not be available for MW3 players who do not own MW2.
Weapons and Blueprints
All weapons from MW2 will be available for MW3 players. However, each weapon’s associated unlock challenge must be completed before it becomes accessible in MW3. Any blueprints obtained in MW2 will also carry forward, and certain blueprints available via Store Bundles in MW2 will be available for purchase in MW3. If you haven’t played MW2 and pick up MW3, you can still access the full complement of MW2 weapons, but only after completing the associated weapon challenges in MW3.
Other Cosmetics
Weapon charms, stickers, emblems, and loading screens will transfer from MW2 to MW3. However, vehicle skins will only transfer if they are for vehicles included in MW3. Wartracks and related cosmetics will not be available in MW3. Additionally, some tactical and lethal equipment may not be available in MW3, depending on the removal of those items and their replacement with MW3-only equipment.
In summary, the Modern Warfare 3 Carry Forward system allows for the transfer of MW2 skins, operators, operator skins, weapons, and weapon skins to MW3. While most content will transfer, there are a few exceptions and details to consider. For more specific examples and information, please refer to the official blog post.
