In LPL Summer 2023, Weibo Gaming faced elimination by LNG Esports in their first match. However, they fought their way through the regional playoffs, defeating Top Esports and Edward Gaming to secure their spot at Worlds 2023 as the fourth seed.
After dominating the Swiss stage, Weibo Gaming swept NRG in the quarterfinals, setting up an intense all-LPL semifinal against Bilibili Gaming. Against all odds, Weibo Gaming emerged triumphant with a 3-2 victory, thanks in large part to TheShy’s exceptional performance.
TheShy showcased his skills right from the start, despite a challenging level one encounter. He expertly controlled the waves and secured kills, making a significant impact in team fights. In the deciding team fight, he strategically used his abilities to bring down the enemy AD carry, securing a crucial advantage for his team.
In game two, Bilibili Gaming fought back with Yagao’s impressive Sylas plays, stealing high-value ultimates from Weibo Gaming. However, TheShy remained competitive and nearly turned the tide with a late-game kill on the enemy Varus.
Games three and four saw TheShy experimenting with unconventional picks like Graves and Quinn top. While he experienced both victory and defeat, his lethality Graves build proved to be particularly devastating, dealing a significant amount of damage.
With the series tied 2-2, everything came down to game five. TheShy opted for a conventional Ornn pick, focusing on securing superior late-game scaling for his team. Despite a rocky start, Weibo Gaming managed to secure the Baron buff and turn the tides in their favor.
While dragons were a strong point for Weibo Gaming, it was Wang “Light” Guang-Yu who truly shone in the final battle. Working alongside TheShy and Crisp, they swiftly brought down the enemy jungler’s health, securing the Mountain Soul and isolating the opposing team.
Playing a supportive role, TheShy selflessly tanked, initiated fights, and protected his teammates. In the end, Weibo Gaming emerged victorious with a 3-2 score, securing their spot in the Worlds 2023 final.
This year’s final will mark the first time Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song, Light, and Weiwei make an appearance in the Worlds final. It’s a momentous occasion for them, as they join forces with TheShy to battle for the ultimate glory.
