G2 Esports’ star player, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, is on the verge of joining the Saudi-backed esports organization, Falcons, according to a report by 1pv.fr. The move comes as G2 is unwilling to offer NiKo the same salary, leading to his departure from the Berlin-based team. This transfer marks the end of NiKo’s three-year tenure with G2, during which he played a crucial role in the team’s success, including victories at IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne in 2023, as well as a runner-up finish at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 event.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov, another G2 player, is also receiving offers as the organization looks to potentially offload both players for the right deal. The deals being discussed are expected to be worth millions.
Falcons have already secured the services of Danny “zonic” Sørensen and Emil “Magisk” Reif, formerly of Vitality and Astralis, respectively. With these additions, Falcons is assembling a formidable CS2 team.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting transfer and the future of NiKo and G2 Esports.
