Who is Bond in Spy x Family?

Bond is the latest addition to the Forger family and one of the main characters in Spy x Family, an action-comedy series created by Tatsuya Endo. In the first cour of the series, we learned that the story revolves around a spy known as “Twilight” who embarks on a secret mission called Operation Strix. As part of the mission, Twilight must create a fake family under the alias Loid Forger to gain access to his target, a reclusive politician named Donovan Desmond.

In earlier episodes, Loid acquires a telepathic child named Anya to infiltrate Eden Academy, where Desmond’s son attends. Along the way, Loid and Anya meet Yor Briar, an undercover assassin known as “Thorn Princess,” who agrees to play the role of their mother to achieve her own objectives.

Now, in the second cour, Bond joins the Forgers as a furry companion for Anya. He’s a large, long-haired dog resembling a Great Pyrenees or Pyrenean Mountain Dog. Anya names him Bond because his fluffy white fur and big black paws remind her of the gloves and shoes worn by her favorite fictional TV hero, Bondman.

Bond’s backstory reveals that he was once subjected to cruel experiments and was known as Subject 8. As a result of these experiments, he gained precognitive abilities. Bond first encounters Anya outside an adoption fair, where she reads his mind and sees a vision of the Forgers smiling at him. Intrigued, Anya follows Bond to a hideout where she discovers that his caretakers are actually terrorists planning an assassination. When the terrorists threaten to harm Anya, Bond bravely defends her by breaking free from his leash and jumping in front of her.

Bond’s Personality

Bond is a kind and perceptive dog who uses his precognition to protect others rather than cause harm. In his first appearance, he saves a child from a falling board and later teams up with Anya to foil an assassination attempt and save Loid’s life.

First Appearance of Bond in Spy x Family Manga and Anime

Bond makes his debut in chapter 18 of the manga during the Doggy Crisis Arc. In the anime, he first appears in episode 13 titled “Project Apple.”
