HomeBois emerged victorious in a thrilling grand final against Team SMG to claim the championship title in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia Season 12 (MPL MY Season 12). This marks their first MPL MY title since joining the league in Season 7. They also secured the lion’s share of the $100,000 prize pool, taking home $25,000.
Team SMG, despite their loss, earned a spot in the M5 Wild Card tournament and received a runner-up prize of $12,000.
HomeBois, who finished third in the regular season, faced off against last season’s winner, Team HAQ, in the second round of the playoffs. They then defeated top seed RSG Malaysia in the upper bracket semifinals and swept Selangor Red Giants to secure their place in the grand final.
In the first game of the grand final, HomeBois made an incredible comeback from a 7,000-gold deficit. Xorn’s Khufra caught Team SMG’s Yu Zhong in the bush, allowing Raizel’s Bruno to eliminate him with just three hits. This secured the Evolved Lord and helped HomeBois win the opener in 19 minutes.
HomeBois continued their winning streak in the second game, thanks to XORN’s brilliant initiations using his signature tank Chou.
Team SMG fought back in the third game, relying on Sasa’s Karrie, who achieved a positive KDA of 3/1/9 in the 17-minute victory.
Although SMG almost equalized the series in the fourth game by wiping out HomeBois, HomeBois managed to defend their base with a gutsy play after securing the Lord in the previous fight.
Refusing to go down without a fight, SMG forced a winner-take-all game 7 with the help of Saxa’s Joy and Sasa’s Beatrix.
In the final game, HomeBois regained their composure and dominated with Chibi’s Martis leading the charge. They secured the second Lord and sealed the title with a 13-minute victory.
XORN, the star roamer of HomeBois, was named the Playoffs MVP for his outstanding performance.
HomeBois will make their debut in the upcoming M5 World Championship held in the Philippines in December.
