ONIC Esports has once again proven their dominance in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 12 (MPL ID Season 12). They defeated Geek Fam, 4-2, in the grand final to secure their third consecutive championship, making history in Indonesian MLBB.

ONIC Esports, the reigning MLBB Southeast Asia 2023 champions, now hold a record-breaking five MPL ID trophies, surpassing RRQ as the most successful organization in the league. They also claimed the majority of the US$336,500 prize pool.

Geek Fam, on the other hand, achieved their first-ever finals appearance after a remarkable journey. They defeated Dewa United Esports in the play-ins, staged a reverse sweep against RRQ in the upper bracket semifinals, and eliminated Bigetron Alpha in the lower bracket final.

In the first two games of the grand final, ONIC displayed their dominance with a strong frontline led by Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol’s jungle Fredrinn and Nicky “Kiboy” Pontonuwu’s Rafaela. Their teamwork allowed their teammates to deal damage while they absorbed Geek Fam’s attacks, resulting in convincing victories.

Kiboy continued to shine in the third game, playing Mathilda and providing exceptional support to his allies. His well-timed activations of Guiding Wind contributed to a 21-minute victory, bringing ONIC to championship point.

However, Geek Fam refused to go down without a fight. They relied on LUKE’s Uranus in game four and Baloyskie’s Mathilda in game five to secure wins and extend the series.

In the sixth and final game, ONIC regained their composure. Kiboy, playing Hilda, aggressively invaded Geek Fam’s jungle with the assistance of SANZ’s Angela. This early game advantage allowed ONIC to snowball and take control of the map, ultimately securing a 16-minute victory to clinch the historic championship.

Kiboy’s outstanding performance throughout the series earned him the Finals MVP award.

Both ONIC Esports and Geek Fam will represent the region in the upcoming M5 World Championship, scheduled to take place in December in the Philippines.
