Rekkles Leaves Fnatic and Becomes a Free Agent

Fnatic bids farewell to Rekkles after a decade of dedication

Fnatic has announced that Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has left the team ahead of the 2024 season. In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Fnatic expressed their immense gratitude for Rekkles’ unwavering commitment and the positive impact he had on the organization throughout his ten-year tenure.

Rekkles embarks on a new journey as a free agent

Following his departure from Fnatic, Rekkles is now a free agent for the first time since 2012. As he looks towards the upcoming season, he aims to join the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) as a support player. Over the past five months, he has dedicated himself to honing his skills in this role, believing that he has reached a high level of play as a support.

Transitioning to support: Rekkles’ perspective

While Rekkles is open to playing as an ADC (Attack Damage Carry), he believes that his personality, skills, and game understanding are better suited for the support role. He sees himself making a greater impact and utilizing his abilities to the fullest in this position.

Recap of Rekkles’ recent journey

In 2022, Rekkles played for Karmine Corp in the LFL. He then returned to Fnatic as their primary bot laner for the LEC Winter and Spring 2023 splits. Unfortunately, the team faced disappointing results, finishing ninth in the LEC Winter 2023 regular season and securing only eighth place in the group stage of LEC Spring 2023.

Transition and benching

Before the start of the LEC Summer 2023 season, Rekkles officially transitioned to the support role. However, he was subsequently benched and excluded from the team’s starting lineup. Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek took over the bot lane, while Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus assumed the support position.
