Soniqs Dominates PUBG Global Series 2 and Takes Home $600,000 Prize

The PUBG Global Series 2 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia showcased intense battle royale action from August 18 to 20. Out of all the competing teams, Soniqs emerged as the ultimate champions, earning a staggering $600,000 from the $2 million prize pool provided by Krafton Inc.

Represented by Hunger “hwinn” Winn, James “TGLTN” Giezen, Tristan “Shrimzy” Nowicki, and Austin “M1ME” Scherff, Soniqs displayed exceptional performances throughout the three-day event. Their consistency was unmatched, securing three victories out of the 15 grand finals rounds, the highest among all teams. Additionally, they claimed second place in terms of kills, with an impressive count of 89. Twisted Minds from EMEA region had the most kills with 93, but couldn’t bridge the gap in placement scores.

TGLTN of Soniqs was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title, along with a bonus of $20,000, for his outstanding performance in the finals. He led his team to victory with the highest number of kills, totaling 29.

The PUBG Global Series 2 is a significant step towards the PUBG Global Championship, scheduled to take place in Bangkok from November 28 to December 3. While the prize pool for the championship is yet to be confirmed, the previous PGC in 2022 featured over $3.3 million in prize money.

Teams earned PGS points based on their placements at the Global Series 2, which qualifies them for PGC 2023. Soniqs, Twisted Minds, 17 Gaming, and Danawa Esports secured their spots in the championship due to their consistent performances across two PUBG Global Series events.

Krafton also announced details about the upcoming PUBG Nations Cup 2023, where 16 nations will compete at the Sangnam Colosseum in Seoul, South Korea from September 15 to 17. This tournament will introduce Vikendi as an official competitive map, along with the updated Miramar and Taego maps.
