One of South Korea’s most famous League of Legends teams, T1, could be embarking on their final journey together. The team’s roster, consisting of Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, and Keria, has been playing together for two years and has achieved numerous milestones. However, T1 Gumayusi has hinted that after Worlds 2023, we may not see all five players together again.
During an interview with Korean media News Naver, T1 Gumayusi expressed his feelings about the future of the team. He acknowledged that some fans might not be happy with his statement, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that this could be their last Worlds tournament as a team.
This roster has remained unchanged since 2022, winning the LCK Spring 2022 playoffs. Although they came close, they fell short of winning championships at MSI 2022, LCK Summer 2022 playoffs, Worlds 2022, LCK Spring 2023 playoffs, and LCK Summer 2023 playoffs.
Gumayusi hopes that they can finally achieve success at Worlds 2023 and reap the rewards for their past runner-up finishes. However, T1 has not made any official statements regarding the future of their League of Legends players after Worlds.
After the championship event, the contracts of Zeus, Gumayusi, Keria, and substitute player Sky are set to expire in November. It remains uncertain whether these players will renew their contracts with T1 or explore opportunities outside the organization.
T1 will begin their journey in Worlds 2023 during the Swiss Stage, where they will face teams from various major regions and those who have qualified from the Play-In Stage.
