The Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA) has announced the players who will represent Korea in the League of Legends tournament at the Asian Games 2023. After a rigorous selection process, six players have been chosen, along with a substitute player, to form the national team.
The final candidates for Team Korea’s League of Legends roster include three players from T1, one player from Gen.G, and two players from JD Gaming, who were part of the winning Mid-Season Invitational (MSI 2023) team.
The top choices for the national team are T1’s Zeus, Faker, and Keria, who will take on the roles of top laner, mid laner, and support, respectively.
Faker, a three-time Worlds champion, will be making his second appearance in the Asian Games. He previously won a silver medal in the 2018 event.
The roster will also see the reunion of former teammates, as JD Gaming’s Ruler joins forces with Gen.G’s Chovy. The duo previously won the LCK Summer 2022 championship together.
The specific roles of Faker and Chovy within the starting lineup have yet to be determined.
Renowned coach kkOma will lead the team and oversee their training for the upcoming multi-sport event. Khan and Zefa will join him as coaches.
The players were evaluated based on their individual awards, domestic and international records over the past two years, including this year’s MSI.
Asian Games 2023, the 19th edition of the continental multi-sport event, will take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. The esports discipline will feature eight titles, including League of Legends.
