This year, the tournament will feature four groups instead of the usual two, with 20 teams battling it out for glory in Seattle. Teams Competing in TI12
A total of 20 teams from around the world will be competing in The International 2023. Twelve teams have qualified through their exceptional performance in the Dota Pro Circuit, including three-time Major winners Gaimin Gladiators. The remaining eight teams secured their spots through regional qualifiers, with South America and Western Europe receiving two slots each due to their strong performance in the DPC.

TI12 Group Stage Format
The group stage of TI12 will take place from October 12 to 15. Instead of the usual two big groups, this year’s tournament will feature four groups of five teams each. The last team in each group will be eliminated before moving on to the head-to-head matches. This new format ensures that every match is crucial and adds to the excitement of the competition.
Furthermore, all 16 teams that enter the playoffs will have at least one best-of-three series, eliminating the lower-bracket best-of-ones. This gives every team a chance to fight for their tournament lives in Seattle.
