What is the Worlds Qualifying Series?
The Worlds Qualifying Series (WQS) is a preliminary tournament that determines the final team to join Worlds 2023. The fourth seeds from the LCS and LEC will face off in a best-of-five series, with the winner securing their spot in the Play-Ins.
Who is Participating?
This year, only the LCS and LEC teams will be participating in the WQS. The Golden Guardians from North America have already qualified, while the representative from the EMEA region will be decided during the LEC Season Finals 2023.
Where and When Will it Take Place?
The WQS was initially scheduled to take place in North America, but Riot Games made the decision to move the event to LoL Park in South Korea, the host country for Worlds 2023. This change allows the potential teams to have more time to prepare in the host region, minimize travel, and scrim against qualified Worlds teams before the Play-In Stage.
How Does it Work?
The winner of the WQS will join seven other teams in the Play-Ins. These teams include three from the PCS, three from the VCS, and one each from the LJL, CBLOL, and LLA. The WQS winner will be drawn into a bracket that will be played on day 2 of the Play-In Stage.
