Yay’s New Team Revealed: Joining Bleed Esports in the Pacific Region

Samuel Crossley

The Valorant off-season has been filled with roster changes, but one player who has remained under the radar is Jaccob “Yay” Whitaker. However, recent information suggests that he has found a new home in the Pacific region.

During a ranked game on Valorant’s Southeast Asian server, viewers on Saibani “fl1pzjder” Rahmad’s YouTube stream noticed Yay playing under the alias “zommy.” He was teamed up with Bleed Esports player Derrick “Deryeon” Yee, who referred to him as his little brother.

Fans analyzed zommy’s gameplay and noted the similarities in mechanics, particularly in aim and movement, which strongly resembled Yay’s style. Tarik “Tarik” Celik even confirmed that zommy was indeed Yay after watching clips of his gameplay.

Other indicators linking zommy to Yay include their shared use of the same crosshair and their preference for playing duelists.

Despite the anticipation surrounding Yay’s next move, there have been no leaks regarding his team for the VCT 2024 season. Yay himself expressed surprise at the lack of information.

Yay was widely regarded as the best Valorant player in the world in 2022. He achieved outstanding stats during OpTic Gaming’s victory at Masters Reykjavik 2022 and consistently performed well at Masters Copenhagen and Valorant Champions 2022.

After a brief stint with Cloud9 in the VCT 2023 season, Yay was released from the team following VCT LOCK//IN. His most recent appearance in a professional match was with Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang’s DSG team in the Valorant Challengers League, where they struggled to secure any wins.

Yay’s decision to join Bleed Esports marks a new chapter in his career, and fans are eager to see him in action once again.

| Masters Copenhagen | OpTic Gaming | Top 3 |
| Valorant Champions 2022| OpTic Gaming | Top 3 |
