Dota 2’s latest patch, 7.34d, may not bring any groundbreaking changes, but it aims to create a more balanced and competitive meta for The International. While only minor adjustments have been made to the most and least impactful heroes and items, this patch sets the stage for a healthier gameplay experience.
In the DreamLeague S21 tournament, certain heroes like Phantom Assassin, Gyrocopter, and Pangolier dominated the scene. To address their dominance, these heroes have received small nerfs in this patch. On the other hand, less popular heroes such as Ogre Magi, Magnus, Spectre, and Abaddon have been given slight buffs, offering players more diverse options.
The most significant change in this patch is the nerf to Ninja Gear, a tier four neutral item that has been frequently abused. This item allowed heroes to cast Smoke of Deceit on themselves, granting them unparalleled mobility and farming capabilities. However, its cooldown has been increased from 45 seconds to 60 seconds, and the Smoke is now removed when the hero loses Ninja Gear. This change prevents heroes from exploiting the item by putting it in their backpack.
While this patch may not be particularly thrilling, it sets the stage for an exciting upcoming tournament, TI12. The focus is on stabilizing hero power levels, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for the biggest Dota 2 event of the year. TI12 is scheduled to take place from October 12 to 29.
